ABOUT YOUR FIRST VISIT

Your initial visit with us is a very important one.

During this visit, you and I will meet for the first time and determine the direction of your future chiropractic care. Please plan on 45 minutes to one hour for this appointment if you complete your paperwork before you arrive. Complicated cases requiring x-rays could take longer. Also, please bring any pertinent films or test results with you. This will prevent you from having the tests repeated or from delaying treatment while we wait for the films or results to arrive at our office.

Unfortunately, all doctor’s appointments begin with paperwork. It is important that we know who you are, details concerning your health and medical history, and a detailed account of what has brought you to our office. This paperwork is available on the New Patient Paperwork page of this website. You can electronically submit it, print it, or just fill it out the old fashioned way in our office. We prefer whichever options is most convenient for you.

We want you to choose the option that is best for you. Then it is important that we share information with you, such as possible side-effects of treatment, our expectations for payment, and how we handle your private health information, as outlined in HIPPA. Currently, we have all of this paperwork in our office so you do not have to print it at home. Most of these forms require that you read them and sign them.

Once you have completed your paperwork, we will go over your current condition and health history with you. This makes sure that we have all the information we need to give you the best care possible.

I will perform a thorough head-to-toe examination based on your complaints, health history, and goals for treatment. This exam will include neurologic, orthopedic, postural, reflex, and physical tests. I will go over everything that I am doing as I am doing it and will make sure you understand the reason for and results of each test.

If I need x-rays to help rule out possible causes of your current complaint or to help determine appropriate treatment recommendations, we will discuss it before I take them. X-rays provide an amazing picture of what is going on with your bones and other tissue structures. Because you are exposed to a small amount of radiation, I only take them if they are absolutely necessary.

Once I have all the necessary information, I will sit down with you and go over all your results. Together, we will come up with a treatment plan that is best suited for your medical needs, lifestyle, and treatment goals. Although we may not fully know how you will react to treatment until we start, you will have a good idea whether chiropractic can help you and how much treatment it will take to get you where you want to be. If you need a referral to another type of provider, I will go over this as well and provide some names.

Once a treatment plan is in place and all needed information has been obtained, I will be able to begin treatment. This will usually be during your first visit. Your initial visit may include chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, therapies, and/or soft tissue work.

Your Role – If you are able to do anything at home to improve your condition and speed up your care, I will send you home with the information. This could include simply using ice or heat, using natural supplements, stretches, exercises, or lifestyle changes.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM MY FIRST VISIT TO A CHIROPRACTOR?

You may ne nervous preparing for your first visit to a chiropractor’s office, but know that we do everything we can to make you feel comfortable, relaxed, and that all your healthcare questions are answered.

While most patients do not actually begin their chiropractic treatment during their first visit, there are some things you can expect. With your first visit to a Denver chiropractor, patients can expect the following:

Completing patient paperwork.
A complete physical examination.
X-ray studies (in certain cases).
Development of a personalized treatment plan made just for you.
The opportunity to ask any questions.

YOUR ROLE IN TREATMENT

I strongly believe in helping you exercise your power to achieve the health and activity that you want.

Not all of my patients run marathons or compete at professional levels. Most of my patients are everyday people that want to be active and pain-free. My role is an advisor. You tell me where you want to go and I will help you get there.

During your treatment, I will make recommendations. This may include treatment frequency, therapies, home activities that can accelerate your care, such as exercise or stretching, vitamins or supplements that may help you heal, dietary changes, and activities to avoid that may be aggravating your condition, such as poor posture at work. This being said, I realize that we live in the real world and some things cannot be avoided or done. I understand that finances get in the way and sometimes, as humans, we just like doing things that are bad for us. You and I will discuss my recommendations and together we will come up with a realistic treatment plan that will work for you.

STAGES OF CARE

Not only is every patient unique, but so is each injury.

How you respond to your treatment depends on several factors, including:

The severity of your injury.
How long you waited before seeking care.
Whether you come in for regular chiropractic check-ups.
The details of your medical history.
Overall health and fitness level.
Genetics and family history.

After your initial exam, I am able to provide you with a good estimate concerning your treatment needs. At each appointment, I’ll check in to determine what needs to be treated during that session and to also gauge how you are responding to your treatment plan. This way, I am able to immediately make any changes if needed. I have found that all of my patients go through the same stages during recovery, just at different speeds.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

Governor’s Park Chiropractic believes in the value of wellness care for you and your family and have maintained a pricing structure that allows care for all budgets.

Our office participates in most insurance programs. We also accept auto accident and workers compensation cases. For patients who have little or no chiropractic insurance coverage, flexible payment programs can be arranged. To learn more about our payment options for chiropractic and wellness care, you can call our office directly.

Most insurance plans are accepted at our office. We accept auto accident, workers compensation, personal injury, and most health insurance plans, including Medicare. Since there are so many plans and coverage varies widely, please call us to find out if your plan covers care in our office. Our staff will verify and explain your benefits before treatment, at no charge.

For patients who have little or no chiropractic insurance coverage, flexible payment programs can be arranged. If you have no insurance or do not have chiropractic benefits there is still a way for you to receive the care you need. Many patients pay directly for care, as they discover chiropractic to be extremely cost-effective and affordable.
